More traveling

I’m starting my final countdown, seven days till New Orleans, maybe after that I can get a semi-normal life back.  march-29-killers-row-pilatiesI’ve continued to go to Pilaties and so I decided the best thing to do was to try and make friends there. Despite my best efforts however, these little boxes continue to be my enemy. Oh, they look innocent enough but there is a dark side to these guys. I lay on them, I stand on them, I jump on them but they have continued to be my master so far, I’m not done yet though.march-29-dan-at-court

Last weekend I was in California to participate in the “Slowtwitch” Fistapallooza fitting weekend.  Dan Empfield, Jordan Rapp and I had many athletes come to the Xantusia camp site, where we set them up on bikes properly. It seemed like about a hundred people but  it all went smoothly. We had some great Bar B Que on Saturday night and march-29-jordan-at-camp1talked to all levels of athletes. Jordan Rapp [at right] was there to lead some torture bike rides and runs. march-29-snow-on-ground You all now about California right? beaches, warm sand, pretty days, we were having one of those when things got wierd.  All of a sudden the skies got dark, the wind picked up to about 70mph and we got about an inch of snow in a big hurry and all of this happened and went back to normal in about two hours.march-29-ex-bike-with-wrap  I’m not sure I’m quite ready for that lifestyle yet.

The other day an un-named friend of mine called and asked if I might help his wife.  She was riding her excersize bike but continued to have a lot of discomfortmarch-29-plus-on-ex-bike, could I apply some of my thinking to this.  She had a towel wrapped around the seat searching for more cush, I kind of laughed but actually could symapathize. I put on one of my new saddles and spent a few minutes working on some basic positioning, Excersize bikes aren’t very good for replicating road bike positions but I believe I helped her in the end, or at least on that end. This week, it’s back to California for a 3 day fitting camp then get home and go to Nawlens’. Tomorrow I plan to give Cento her final going over and have a real sweet talk with her and my running shoes.

  1. I miss you, John, and you are the BEST bike fitter EVER! Dude, I have put down my $4K carbon Javelin frame and hopped back on to my faithful, wonderfully painted and designed (by YOU, of course) TT bike from back in the day. I’ve been injured with some upper hamstring tendonopathy bull*** or something for the past few years, but I’m comin’ back, dude. Comin’ BACK I say even at the ripe old age of 43. Anyway, I love you, and I talk about you all the time to anyone I can b/c it’s fun! I’m proud of you for everything you’ve done and continue to do.

  2. Go Johnny Go Go Go. And stay away from the Central Grocery. Muffi not good for going fast. Aloha Buddy,

  3. Run, Johnny, Run! And swim and bike real fast too.

  4. I have a question. What’s up with cobbcycling.com?

  5. Hey John, you have a couple of the R.P. Wingspan’s laying around. You told Shelley she needed one when you fit her a couple of weeks ago her in Longview.
